It has been way too long since I last posted....but here it goes.

I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that I am back and will be sharing my latest creations with you.

I have just been asked to design for a Canadian company, but I am going to let you hanging for a little. I am awaiting my package of goodies to start creating for them. You'll have to stay tuned.

Scrapbooking Elements

I have completed a few more scrapbooking elements for a group I belong to in the USA. The themes were Sea Shells(tile accents) and Summer Fun(on-board accent stars). As with my swap elements before, I had to use certain stamp sets and colours of cardstock/ink. The pictures of these elements did not turn out very well, but I thought that I would share them with you regardless. Please click on the pictures to see a closer image.

On-Board Accent Stars: I first inked the entire chipboard star with a White Craft ink pad. I let it dry a little and then sponged the top on the star using Bashful Blue Classic ink and the bottom of the star with Pumpkin Pie classic ink as well as wheeling on the Sandy Shells images using Pumpkin Pie ink directly onto the bottom of the star. I did this to create the sand and sky. I then used Black Staz-On ink to ink the Sandy Shells wheel and rolled it on Whisper White cardstock.

The Sanddollar: left white, tombo liquid glue was applied and then I applied dazzling diamonds glitter.

The Starfish: Using a blender pen, I dipped it in the Pumpkin Pie ink that I had squeezed onto the lid of the ink pad and coloured the image. I applied the liquid glue just on the "arms" of the starfish and applied clear micro beads.

Clam Shell: Again, using the blender pen dipped in ink as above, I coloured this image using Bashful Blue ink. Liquid glue applied and light blue fine cosmo glitter applied.

Tile Accents: These tile accents are only 1-1/4 inches square! I first cut Bashful Blue cardstock into 1-1/4 inch strips. I then inked the end of the pennant flag of the sail boat from the Winds of Grace stamp set using the Brocade Blue Stampin' Write Marker to make the seagulls. I also lightly sponged bashful blue ink onto the BB cardstock. I wheeled the Sandy Shells wheel through Sahara sand ink and rolled onto Sahara Sand cardstock. This card stock was then torn to create "sand". I glued this strip of cardstock to the bashful Blue cardstock using Stampin' Up!'s Everywhere glue stick. Once the strip of sahara sand cardstock was applied, I then cut the tiles again to be 1 -1/4 inch square. The individual shells were wheeled onto Confetti White cardstock using Staz-On ink, coloured, glitter, microbeads or Crystal Effects applied and then cut out. Each were adhered to the tiles using Crystal Effects.

Happy Mother's Day!

A heartfelt 'Happy Mother's Day!' to all of the moms, grandma's,Oma's,Nana's,Nannies, and all of the special 'moms'!

I had a lovely day today. I woke up to breakfast in bed courtesy of my daughter J'Naya and hubbie! Yummy homemade blueberry pancakes! Yes, Keith and J'Naya both know the recipe from memory. They also took me out for lunch. I had a great chuckle when J'Naya ate her dessert of 'dirt & worms'....! I still say that I have the best recipe for this!

Now I am taking a moment out to show you a few cards and then I will be continuing my organizing journey! It is more of an expedition if I do say so myself. I can't believe all of the papers that I have recycled this week.

I hope you enjoy these Mother's Day cards as well as your day!

Scrapbook Title Bar

Thank you for the wonderful feedback about my scrapbook borders from my last post. I really appreciate it! Scrapbooking is such a wonderful way to be creative. But it is also a wonderful way to display the photos of the memories which are important in your life. I hope that you find some inspiration in my creations to help you with your scrapbooking creativitiy.

I thought that I would also share with you the other scrapbooking element swap that I have completed. My element for this swap was to create a title bar for the swap theme Sea Shells. The colours for this swap are: Blush Blossom, Sage Shadow, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand, Confetti White, and black to stamp the shells. Of the stamp sets that were allowed I used the Seaside stamp set, Winds of Grace, and the title was done using the Short Order Alphabet stamp set.

Here are a few details of how I brought the title bar together.

The 'sand' was created using the 'sand/wave' stamp from the Winds of Grace stamp set and was stamped using Sahara Sand ink. This stamp could also be used to create clouds. Very versatile!

The shells were stamped on scrap pieces of cardstock. The blush blossom and sahara sand colouring was done using Stampin' Write Markers, and the Bashful Blue was added using a blender pen dipped into ink that I squeezed onto the ink pad lid. The 'spines' of each Scallop Shell were highlighted using Crystal Effects. This was a great way to give a little shine as well as a raised texture to the shells. The Spindal Shell was coloured the same way but I also used Sage Shadow. There is also Crystal Effects appied to each 'lined' detail of the Spindal Shell. To attach the shells, I simply cut out each image, used SNAIL adhesive to apply the Spindal Shell directly to the title page and the Scallop Shells were raised off of the page using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I purposely stamped the title in a 'wave'. Not only did it fit with the theme, it is also much easier to stamp letters tilted then try to stamp them all straight in a row. If you like to stamp your letters straight in a row, I would recommend using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get the proper placement.

A few little details that added to this title bar: I sponged Bashful Blue direct to cardstock all over the 'sky' as well as around the edge of the cardstock where the 'sky' is. I sponged Sahara Sand around the cardstock edges where the 'sand' is. This helped to blend the Confetti White cardstock into the matted pieces. The Sahara Sand cardstock is torn just on the sides where the sand matches up. One other detail was the Seagulls. I coloured direct to stamp using the Bordering Blue Stampin' Write Marker to the last portion of the Pennant Flag of the sailboat stamp from the Winds of Grace. A little bit of 1/4 inch Bashful Blue grosgrain ribbon finishes off this title bar.

Scrapbook Page Elements

I have recently been welcomed into a Scrapbook Elements Swap Group in the United States. There are many talented American SU! Demonstrator's who take part in these swaps and I can't wait to receive my first swap elements! I do believe that I am the only SU! Canadian demonstrator within this group.

Posted here are my first Swaps that I designed for one of the current swaps. I was to create border strips for the swap theme 'Spring Magic'. There are certain colours of cardstock, specific stamp sets and other "rules" that you must follow. The colours used here are: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, and So Saffron. I used StazOn jet black for the outlined images. All of the papers, inks, and accessories used must use these colours. I have done quite a bit of masking within the images to achieve many different 'layers' of images. Stampin' Write Markers were used to colour the leaves and a blender pen using stamp pad ink was used to colour the images.

The butterflies were first stamped on the main border cardstock. I stamped additional butterflies on scrap cardstock. I used 2-Way glue to each wing then applied Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I then cut out each butterfly and attached just the 'body' of the butterfly ontop of the butterfly which I stamped on the main border cardstock using sticky strip which I cut into fine strips. You can see in the second picture that the wings are then slightly bent to be raised off the page. A pink bead from the bead duos was glued using Tombo Multi Liquid Glue to the 'head' of each butterfly. A brad was put in the center of 3 of the flowers and it was put through all layers of the cardstock for additional reinforcement of the layers.

Other details: smaller corner rounder to the 'inside' corners, certainly celery ink sponged to the edge of the whisper white cardstock which 'touches' the certainly celery cardstock to help blend it in.

More 2-4-6-8 boxes

My last post had a 2-4-6-8 box that I made using the Stems & Silhouettes jumbo wheel and the Wonderful You stamp set that are featured in the Free Wheelin' Promotion.

After posting the box, it reminded me of the 136 boxes that I made for a wedding. So I thought that I would share with you a few pictures of the boxes. The colours are Sahara Sand and Bravo Burgundy. The burgundy organdy ribbon and the Mostly Flowers stamp set are now retired. These boxes were the favors on the reception tables for each guest at the wedding. Inside was a mini ziploc bag with wild flower seeds and a little message to the guests. The boxes looked much more elegant in person. The image on the front was stamped using Bravo Burgundy Craft Ink and then was embossed using Crystal Clear Embossing Powder. They were simple but elegant, just what the bride wanted.

Along with the favors I also made the wedding invitations and the reply cards that all coordinated with one another. It was a lot of fun...especially seeing my creations at the place settings. The bride let me know where the wedding reception was, so I was able to sneak a few pictures before they arrived at the reception!

Free Wheelin'!

I had some fun recently with one of my FREE wheels from the FREE WHEELIN' Promotion. I purchased the stamp set and received the jumbo wheel for FREE!

Last night I was at a customer's house doing a workshop and I made the following two projects. The 2-4-6-8 box contained the door prize and the clear decorated box containing a stamp pad was a gift for my hostess.

I wheeled the Stems & Silhouettes on a sheet of 8 1/2 X 11 Certainly Celery card stock using Old Olive ink. To create the flower, I stamped just the outlined flower image from the Wonderful You stamp set with Jet Black StazOn ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I then coloured in the image with Stampin' Write Markers(Rose Red, Regal Rose and Summer Sun). Once coloured I cut the images out. I left the stem on the image on the clear decorated box. The labels 'ENJOY' and THANK YOU' are from the Lovely Labels stamp set. I used are Designer Label and 1 -1/4 inch punches on these projects. The flowers were put on the projects using Stampin' Dimensionals for added interest. The ribbon on the 2-4-6-8 box is 1/4 inch Grosgrain ribbon in Very Vanilla.

HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY!!

Here are a few cards that I made using the Sale-A-Bration sets. I hope you are all having a wonderfully delightful Valentine's Day. We are spending a quiet night at home with our little girl. She is STILL sick, so it is a cuddle evening! We LOVE to cuddle with her (especially because it is Valentine's, hee, hee) but wish she were feeling better!

The first two cards both feature the Merci Stamp set. I coloured the image on the left using a Q-Tip in Stampin' Pastels and the image on the right was coloured using Stampin' Write Markers. Both cards use the Happy Valentine's Day statement from the Holidays & Wishes stamp set(page 143). I also used the Canvas background stamp and a few silver brads on the card on the right.

The last card uses both the Lots of Thoughts and Friendship Blooms stamp sets from Sale-A-Bration. I used the VersaMark Resist technique and some brayer detail to the background glossy cardstock. Note how the piece of vellum just adds an element to this card and you don't see any adhesive. I simply adhered the Note of Love piece of cardstock to the vellum using SNAIL adhesive and then applied the SNAIL once again to the vellum side but only where the Whisper White cardstock would hide it! I also just rubbed the edges of the vellum directly against the ink pad to help highlight it.

Here is a card that I whipped up today! My daughter was invited to one of her friend's birthday party and you can't send your child without a card! Of course, handmade is the only way I can send a card! :)

This card features two of the Sale-A-Bration sets: Merci Stamp set(the butterfly and flower images) and Birthday Whimsy set(Happy Birthday).

I kept this card simple. A little water colouring to the butterfly to add a touch of colour. I also used a piece of Prints Designer Series paper in So Saffron to coordinate with the So Saffron colour of the main cardstock.

Love is in the Air

My last Stamp-A-Stack had a Valentine's/Love Theme. I thought that I would share a few of the cards with you seeing that Valentine's is one week from today.

I created this first card with the thought of finding a different way to use the Scallop Circle punch. I cut a piece of creamy caramel cardstock to 3" X 3-3/8". I figured out the measurements so that it would make a scalloped oval shape to frame the cat image from the Zoofari Stamp Set. The first two punches are done by lining up the edge of the punch with each edge of the cardstock(first the left side then the right side). Make sure that the cardstock is flush with the bottom/base of the punch. Once each side were punched, I lined up the punch in the middle to punch the center little scalloped piece out. Once you have completed this, you have an scalloped oval shape punched out!

The creamy caramel cardstock was then lightly sponged with Chocolate Chip classic ink to give the paper a suede-look. The ruby red cardstock was first stamped using Chocolate Chip ink with the words 'Love you much' from the new Family Phrases Stamp Set followed by randomly stamping in Ruby Red ink with the heart image from the Short & Sweet Stamp Set. The cat was just stamped with Basic Black ink and coloured in with Stampin' Write Markers: creamy caramel and close to cocoa. I was also thinking masculine when designing this card.

This second card was also created with masculine in mind. The images are stamped with Black Staz-On ink and were all coloured in using the ink from the ink pad lids and a blender pen.

Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou and Whisper White
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate, and Going Grey
Stamp sets: Load of Love, Loads of Love accessories and Print Pattern background.

Here's to a great new year! I love the time that I spend with all of my stamping friends, so the new level 3 hostess set for the new Spring-Summer Collection 2008 is perfect! The words really reflect the way I feel about my friends, but it is also how I feel about all of the people I have met through my Stampin' Up! business. The time I spend with my stamping friends is time well spent!

Final Christmas Stamp-A-Stack for 2007!

This coming Thursday and Friday are the final evenings this year for my Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks! If you are in need of new card layout ideas or want to get some of your own Christmas cards completed, this is the event that you will not want to miss out on!

Here are two of the cards that you will be able to stamp this Thursday and Friday. These cards use two of my favorite sets: Lovely As a Tree and The Snowflake Spot. The tree card is my own creation. The Snowflake card I replicated from a card my upline Bev stamped. Notice the "bling" on the Snowflake! I love the Rhinestone Brads as well! The nice thing about these two cards is that I feel they both can be given to either a male or female. Look for my "All Masculine Card" workshop in the New Year!

Coluzzle Creations

This past weekend I used the Coluzzle Cutting System quite a bit. I used the coluzzle to cut many oval mats for a friend. The first oval was cut using her main piece of cardstock. I added a second layer using the Brocade Blue cardstock. She has been busy completing cross-stitiched projects for her family for Christmas. She used her lovely creations and put them into cards for them. Here is a picture of a few of her completed cards. Lovely work Maryann. Your family members will love them. Thank you for the photo!

I have also done a few Christmas cards using the Coluzzle as a mat. Customers during my in-home workshops in October and November had the chance to stamp the card featured on the right. I used The Snowflake Spot stamp set(page 36) as well as the Warm Words stamp set(page 142). I cut the oval mat using the Coluzzle cutting system and it was used to protect the surface around the outside of the area being stamped. This technique is called Reverse Matting. The snowflakes were stamped randomly around the oval's edge and then the edge was sponged with ink. I just love the snowflake in the lower right corner. It sparkles so much in person. although the picture doesn't do it justice. Click on the picture for a better view.

First, rub your entire sheet with the Embossing Buddy. This is a wonderful accessory as it has an anti-static property to help the glitter from sticking to the entire cardstock surface. I then proceeded to stamp the snowflake image with VersaMark ink, applied Heat & Stick powder, and then heated it with the heating tool to "melt" the powder. This now acts as a glue. While still wet, you pour Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the snowflake. Tap off the extra and heat it with the heating tool once again for a few seconds. It only takes a few seconds as it is just to set the glitter. A very simple card with a spectacular and eye-catching result! The colours used on this card are Whisper Whtie, Night of Navy and Ballet Blue.

Preparation, Preparation, Preparation!

I have been very busy over the last few weeks preparing for a Parent Resource Fair at my daughter's preschool. This Fair would be the perfect opportunity for you or any friends and family in your life to do some holiday shopping!

This Wednesday November 14th from 9:30am until 3:30pm, there will be local home-based businesses at the View Royal Community Hall with displays of the products they sell and the companies they represent. I will be there with my Stampin' Up! business. I will have many products displayed as well my hand-stamped cards for sale. I have been busy today making very cute Snowman Soup packages. These would make great stocking stuffers or a "sweet" little surprise for your co-workers or someone special in your life. When the package is opened a little poem is revealed. The poem is pictured here.

The side image of one of the packages shows what is inside: a package of hot chocolate, marshmallows(snowman poop! he, hee), and the stir stick...a candy cane!

Some of the home-based businesses that will be there will be Discovery Toys, Tupperware, Avon, Watkin's as well as myself with my Stampin' Up! business. Feel free to stop by to say hello and tell all of your friends and family! All are welcome!

Don't try this at home!

Yesterday started out with a bit of excitement in our house. Let's just say it is the kind of excitement I don't wish to have happen. But, all is well and all are safe. I am talking about a microwave that is no longer as a fire was it's death! One of our international students forgot that metal should not be used in a microwave. (this is the don't try this at home aspect!) It was a bit of a firey mess. All was contained other than a bit of soot. Little bits of soot throughout the kitchen. Everyone stayed calm and made the best of a scary situation. In doing so, I took this stressful situation and made the best of it.

The instant I saw the inside of the microwave, pictured here, I automatically thought of the Soot Stamping Technique. I had never tried it before, but thought that this was my opportunity to do so. So, I went ahead and played with fire! (this would be the try this at home...but with the most caution taken as it is FIRE!).

Here are two cards that I came up with. You simply light a candle, place it under a piece of glossy card stock...making sure not to catch it on fire!!!, and voila....soot stamping! The edges of the paper can burn very easy so take extra care.

The card on the left was created by using the brayer to add some colour to the glossy card stock before doing the sooting technique. This worked out quite well as it appears as though the ground is separate from the sky. I also added little touches of white Staz On to the ground and the tree branches with a Q-Tip to give the illusion of snow. See the close up picture to have a better view.

The card on the right is plain and simple but very effective. I did the sooting technique, and stamped the image with Black Staz On ink. I love the simplicity of these cards. They definitely have a masculine touch.

When doing the Soot Stamping Technique, it is very important as I said to take much care to prevent a fire. Once your card stock is "sooted" the way you like it, make sure that you don't touch the glossy front as it will leave your finger prints. The most important step is to seal the sooting. I sealed mine by using Krylon's low odor clear matte finish sealant. It does not dry immediately, so allow time for your image to dry.

I hope these cards give you some inspiration!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! I wish you all a very safe and festive evening.

I thought that I would share a quick little post with you today. With this fun occasion comes some fun cards and projects as well. Here are a few Halloween cards and a Halloween project that were stamped by Stamping friends of mine!

The first card was stamped by my friend and upline, Bev. This is such a fun card that makes me smile every time I look at it! She stamped the pumpkin on this card using the Carved & Candlelit stamp set(page 28), the swirly background was created using the Background Basics stamp set(page 131), and the "Happy Halloween" is from the All Holiday stamp set(page143). Bev folded the corner of the card stock and attached a piece of black hemp twine(page 191) to finish off the card.

The second card was stamped by Sonia. The main image on this card is from the Batty for You stamp set(page 27). The more I see this stamp set used the more I like it. She used a variety of punches to frame it: 1 1/4 inch circle and 1 3/8 inch circle and the Scallop Circle punch. I love how these punches work so well with one another. The paper on the bottom of the card is from the Creepy Crawly 12X12 designer series paper and the paper at the top of the card was created using the wax paper resist technique. Another fun card for Halloween.

The final project was also stamped by Sonia! What a great trick or treat surprise. This would make a fun little treat to leave on a co-workers desk or leave for someone special. In between the Scallop Circle punched pieces of card stock are Peppermint Patties! MY FAVORITE!....Yes, I induldge in way too many. Sonia used the same punches again and the Batty for you stamp set. She used a piece of Pumpkin Pie 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon to hold the 4 peppermint patties together.

Retreat weekend!

Tigh-Na-Mara Spa & Resort was where I spent the past weekend! Sounds marvellous right!? It was better than marvellous! I was at a Scrapbooking Retreat weekend with over 50 enthusiastic scrapbookers!~ What a room full of creativity!

I was there as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and had a display of products available through Stampin' Up!, cards that I have made and taught during classes, a display of scrapbooking pages, as well as various other ideas.

I taught a make & take project at the retreat. The make & take was a decorated jumbo paper clip to embellish a scrapbook page, card or just use as a book mark.

Here are a few pictures of the ladies during my make & take classes. I designed the make & take to be what I described as a "free for all". The ladies chose the paper that would work best for them, punched the shapes they wanted and assembled their embellishment for the paper clip to work for them.

It was great to see one of the projects incorporated into a scrapbook page right on the spot!

It was also great to see how much fun the ladies had making a new creation. Each of the creations were different and all turned out wonderful.

I also offered a special Grand Door Prize at my display table. It was a basket of Stampin' Up! goodies worth approximately $120. Here is a picture of Theresa Thomson the lucky winner of the Grand Door Prize! Congratulations Theresa!

The weekend was very enjoyable. I had a great time meeting the new attendees as well as seeing the attendees from the March retreat!

Christmas cards galore!

This weekend's Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks will feature 8 different Christmas cards. I thought that I would post one card that will be available to stamp. There is a bit of irony to this card. At our mini Regionals we were shown how to do this card but it was a bit different. Last night I took my cards to show my fellow demonstrator and upline Bev. When she showed me hers, we both had a chuckle. Our cards were amazingly the same. It was just the words that were different. It happened that I had already used the Merry Christmas on another card for the Stamp-A-Stack so I decided to use the Holiday Greeting instead. Here are our cards. Bev's says Merry Christmas and mine Holiday Greetings.

Mini Stampin' Regionals!

You are probably wondering where I am?... I had to make a personal choice to take a break in September. I have had a health issue to deal with, and now I am back in full force! YEAH!!!

This past weekend I attended a Stampin' Mini Regionals that our Stampin' Up! team conducts. It was absolutely fabulous, jammed-packed with ideas, and definitely power-stamping was on the menu. Stamping and socializing are great aspects to my Stamping business. Here are a few pictures showing just how much fun we have!

Along with stamping, there were some WOW projects taught. I had the honour to teach one of them. I think it took the longest but I absolutely love it! It was Stamped Etched Glass. Totally different than making cards or scrapbook pages. Patience is key, but the results are wonderful. I can just image the gifts I will be making this Christmas.

Here is a picture of Bev teaching us her WOW project: Mulberry Batik! The card in the forground is a sample of the technique incorporated into a card. Wonderful technique with a fabulous look! Thanks Bev!

Baroque Motifs Challenge winner!

In a previous post I announced a Baroque Motifs card challenge. Through the inspiration of a pair of my daugther's cords, I challenged all to come up with cards and submit them to me. Well, all of the cards were wonderful! I must say that the general similarity of all of the cards was the BLING! I love the bling! I also loved receiving each of the cards...it was like it was Christmas!

Well, the winner is Candice B.! Here is a picture of her card. The BLING on this card was achieved by adding silver brads. The colour scheme was simliar to the cords(black, always artichoke, orchid opulence, tempting turquoise, and yo yo yellow.

I kept the prize as a surprize! Here is the prize package: SNAIL refill, 2-way glue, assortment sample of rhinestone brads, assortment sample of halfback white pearls and flowers from the Pretties Kit!

I am also adding a picture of a card which I made through the inspiration from the cords. At the top of the cords is a pom pom decorative element. I mimicked this by added two layers of scalloped edging to the top of the card. The black scallop edge was accomplished using the 3/16 inch corner rounder, and the always artichoke scalloped edging was created using the slit punch. Since I know that my daughter loves the colours pink and purple, I thought that I would keep with those colours seeing that the cords are hers. The large flower was stamped in Pixie Pink on whisper white card stock and punched out with the scallop circle punch. The black "framed" flower was created using the scallop circle punch after punching the black cardstock with the 1 1/4 inch circle punch. Note that the white scalloped flower is turned slightly and highlights the black punched flower. The main card stock is basic black and the scroll image and small flowers were stamped on vellum card stock. I also put a little BLING into my card: a pink circle rhinestone brad.

I do hope you enjoy these two cards. Look for other card challenges in the future with more great prize packages!

Same Look, Two different cards

The card to the left is a card that will be available to stamp at tonight's Stamp-A-Stack!

As I was creating this card, my Mexican student asked if she could stamp one as well. So, of course she could! Eva used the same card stock pieces and turned it into a card of her own. I love how others take a simple layout, change the orientation of the card, and voila! a whole new card! As you can tell, the card is for her mom. I'm sure she will love it. Eva even took her card one step further...last night(or shall I say this morning at 1:30am!) and made it into an explosion card. Eva is a very creative person and so too is her boyfriend in Mexico. While Eva stayed with us, her boyfriend sent her a handmade card. It was an eye-catching card that definitely took a lot of thought and care to make. He added a little handle on the side that when gently moved downward, revealed a charming little cupid! Eva, he's a keeper in my mind! Eva left today to go back to Mexico. I am hoping that she might send me a picture of the card her boyfriend made her. Maybe she will give me permission to post it on my blog.

Birthday Fun!

Birthday's are always fun, but doesn't a stamping birthday party sound like extra fun!?

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with a 7 year old and her friends! They had a blast stamping 3 cards. It is always exciting watching the creativity kids have...and the adults too!

The birthday girl (or boy) gets a little gift from me too! Here is a picture of the gift Charlottle received from me. A special little package filled with goodies that she will be able to use to create her own cards for friends and family.

My stamping birthday parties are great for 6 years olds to teens. Swappin' Time Again!

It is time once again for the demonstrator's within our Stampin' Up! Demonstrator's team to swap cards that they created. I have only missed one swap and that was the last swap....and of course...I totally regret it. The cards were amazing!

Well, this time I am not missing out! Here is my swap card. My card features the new Neighbourhood Jumbo Wheel. I coloured in the images using the blender pen dipped into the ink on the lid, the aqua painter using the same method to create the grass, and I also used Stampin' Write Markers here and there! The Welcome Tag on the bottom of the card was stamped using the Welcome from the Warm Words stamp set and the small and large oval punches and the Key Tag punch frame it. I used stampin' dimensional to mount the "welcome tag". Using the hand-held rectangular punch, I punched on either end of the Key Tag punch. Then I used the new and fabulous(might I add), white Taffata ribbon by sliding it through the punched out openings. The ribbon is so easy to work with and it is incredibly soft! A little bit of luxury!

The original reason I purchased the Neighbourhood Wheel was because a new Neighbor just moved into neighbourhood! I wanted a special card to welcome her. As I just received the Wheel on Friday and therefore just finished the cards last night, I will give her the card this week. I liked how the card turned out so I decided to make this card for my swap card. I chose the So Saffron colour for the main card stock as well as one of the houses as that is the colour of Cassandra's new house.

Open-House Winners!

This evening's Open-House was a huge success! Thank you all for coming out and a happy hello to all of the new Stampin' Friends that I met tonight. It was great to see the creativity in my studio!

Here are a few pictures of my guests in action stamping the make 'n take cards tonight.

I must also send a big Thank You to my husband who was a wonderful help! He always is my fantastic assistant at these events. He even put all of the ribbon samplers together. There are a few more retired ribbon samplers up for grabs as well as some retired stamp sets. So if you would like to know what is left, just e-mail me or call.

Here is a picture of one of the projects that I completed for the Open-House. This would make a great gift for a birthday, teacher's gift, baby shower thank you's,...the possibilities are endless.

Hostess Winner and Card Challenge!

Thank you to all of my hostesses! The hostess open house evening was great! Thank you for being patient with J'Naya...she is my little stamper in training! But I must say thank heavens she will be with grandma tomorrow evening! Just to note that I added an extra door prize slip for the ladies who placed orders. I wanted to make sure that everyone had their name in the appropriate amount of times.

Since J'Naya was so eager to be with us all, J'Naya drew the door prize winner. And the winner is...

Open House Goodies!

This weekend is my Open House to celebrate the new Fall-Winter Collection 2007 Catalogue. I do hope that you will be able to attend!

The end of the Stampin' Up! year is drawing to a close. So today I thought that I would just post card samples which include retiring stamp sets. Some of these samples are cards that I designed, some are from various swaps that I was in. If there is a retiring stamp set that you would like to have, just keep in mind that the last time that you will be able to order these stamp sets is June 30th as they will never be available to order ever again.

New Cattie is HERE!!!

Yes, that's right....my new cattie is here! But, as of today, I only have one copy. It is my complimentary demonstrator's copy. I have been oogling over it all day. I even packed it with me to a meeting(non-Stampin' Up!) this evening! There are so many great stamp sets. But some of my favorite items are in the accessories section. The Pretties Kit looks amazing, new textured paper!, etc....I have to save some of the surprizes for my open-house.

The interesting fact about the cattie is that yes, there were some price increases that SU! informed demonstator's about as there has been an increase related to manufacturing costs surrounding rubber, wood, etc. ...BUT, there were also some prices which stayed the same and some prices which decreased within the accessories! This is by far my favorite cattie yet! It is very well layed out. You will have to let me know what you think when you get your first peek at it!

The following is a post that I found from a demonstrator in Ontario, Caroline. It IS hilarious! Just think of me as you read through...many aspects of this memo described me today receiving my complimentary copy...Well, maybe not to the extreme of this memo, but pretty close! it was like Christmas and I even had to call my mom in Nova Scotia to let her know!

To: Drivers and Security

Date: June 20th , 2007

Subject: Crazy Stampin'Up! Ladies

This time of the year has come around once again. Stampin'Up! is releasing the New Idea Book and Catalog.

Please be extremely cautious of Stampin' Up! demonstrators (SUDs) for the next two weeks.

Watch out for the following:

1. At the distribution centers, please be on the lookout for SUDs. In the past they have been known to cut fences and sneak inside covered with close to cocoa ink in hopes of blending in with the trucks.

2. The ladies have been known to run after your trucks. If they catch you and ask if you have a "package" for them, be careful with your answer. They do not take "no" for an answer. If you do not have it, just say "I will double check in the back" and turn and run as fast as you can to your truck and drive away. Do not turn back and look, just keep going until you are a safe distance away.

3. They have also been know to drive up next to you at a stop light in their mini vans and SUVs and ask if you have a package for them. Turn up your radio and pretend you cannot hear them. Do not let them approach your delivery truck at an intersection. SUDs have been know to stop traffic and throw all your packages off the trucks until they find their new Idea Book and catalog.

How to Deliver the New Idea Book and Catalog

1. Be sure you have fixed your squeaky brakes, If not - park your truck two blocks away so the SUD can not hear you coming.

2. Put in your earplugs and secure your safety glasses.

3. If you see children looking out the window, put your finger up to your lips and say "SHHHH".. They are on a "lookout" for you and are being paid to "alert" their mothers (SUDs) when they see you coming to the door.

4. Approach the front door and very quietly, set the package down in front of the door (Make sure you place it in FRONT so when she opens the door, the box will be in the way and give you a little more time to escape).

5. Back up as far as you can and reach for the doorbell, (BE READY TO RUN !!!). Ring the doorbell and make a mad dash back to your truck and drive away....DO NOT LOOK BACK !!!

The UPS corporation is informing you of this because in the past years, SUDs have been known to scream at the top of their lungs with excitement and try to tackle you with hugs for delivering their catalogs. After you have been smothered with appreciation for getting them their catalogs on time, watch out for flying packaging material as they will open up the box before you have had a chance to leave, or they have gone inside.Best of luck to you with this mission, and remember...Let's Be Safe Out There!!!!

Open-House Sneak Peak!

Enthusiastic SPARKS glow!

Hello Everyone!

I don't usually post many workshop projects, but I thought that I would share a few with you.

Last evening there were many SPARKS glowing!!! That's right, SPARKS; 10- Five to Seven year olds in a guiding unit. They had so much fun along with their leaders and some moms.

The first card was obviously designed with all of their special dads or grandpas in mind! I just love the In The Wild stamp set. The wild animal images are wonderful. Both stamp sets used on this card will be retiring June 30th and will never again be available to order. The Happy Father's Day is from the All Year Cheer II set. On this card, the elephant was stamped with Basic Black ink, and coloured in with the Going Grey Stampin' Write Marker. Notice how the tusks were not coloured leaving the white paper to show though. The Always Artichoke cardstock was embellished with Silver Cord. To help hold the cord in place, the rectangular hand-held punch was punched at either end leaving an opening on each edge. This helps prevent the cord from slipping. The other colours of cardstock are Whisper White, Basic Black, and Sahara Sand.

The second card is a fun Birthday Card. The stamp set used is Eat Cake. The solid stamp images make this card a fun and quick card to stamp. You simply just ink your stamp into your desired colour of ink and stamp on your project. The colours of cardstock shown on this card coordinate with the ink. The coordination of Stampin' Up's! ink and cardstock give your projects a professional and finished look. The colours used on this card are: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White.

The last card is also another quick but fun card. All of the girls wanted to begin the evening stamping this card. The butterfly image is from the Winged Things stamp set and it is also another retiring set. The image was stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. The bright and cheery colour on the Very Vanilla cardstock was achieved using the Baby Wipes technique. You can create any array of colour using this technique and I can guarantee you that each card will be different from the next! The words Thank You are from the Wonderful Words stamp set.

It was so wonderful spending the girl's last meeting of the year with them. I'm honoured! I think that I had a record breaking finish as well. The girls were completed all of their cards in less then an hour!

I thought that I would share with you the special day J'Naya had with her friends today. We had 12 of J'Naya's friends over to celebrate her 3rd birthday.

Along with the Stamped Invitations, I was busy making a cake for J'Naya. Her request was a Dora cake....so, how could I say no. Here are two views of the final creation! J'Naya LOVED it! She was so surprised!

J'Naya recevied a fabulous card from her friend Isaac that was stamped by his mom(and my friend) Alicia! Alicia used the flower images from the Simply Said stamp set and the words Happy Birthday are from the Happy Everything stamp set.

I used one of J'Naya's invitations to put part of her gift in. I removed the "invitation" part of the invite and put a small little book in it.

I also made J'Naya a stamped card. I used the flower in the Unfrogettable stamp set to create the background. It looks just like patterned paper! The frog is just so cute and the Hoppy birthday" just adds to the cute factor!

And what would a kid's birthday be without goodie bags. This goodie bag was for J'Naya's brother. I just wrote each child's name on the front of the card and stamped it with the Eat Cake stamp set. The topper for the goodie bags (if taken off carefully) can be used as a card.

Happy Birthday J'Naya! We love you!

J'Naya's Birthday Invites

Monday June 4th is my daughter's 3rd birthday. So, today I was busy planning J'Naya's birthday party. Thanks to Bev, I was able to complete her invitations today. I thought that I would share the invitations with you.

The stamp set I used is called Eat Cake. What a great name! It is a Two-Step Stamping set, so it is quick to stamp. I did use a few different techniques: Faux Shaving Cream to create the marbled-look on the birthday cake, and direct to stamp with Markers which created the two different colours on the same stamp (candles).

If you would be interested in learning these and many other techniques, a great way to do this is to schedule your own stamping workshop! Have a few of your friends get together and I will come to your home with all of the supplies and projects pre-cut and ready to stamp! Palette 'O Prints - last day tomorrow!

This wonderful selection of 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper is only available until tomorrow, May 31st! I hope you already have yours - it's a beautiful package of paper that you will love to use.

Here are a few cards that I made using the Palette 'O Prints paper. These cards are beautiful and the paper adds such a great touch - and the best part is that it's quick and simple!

This first one is stamped with the Doodle This set from the Spring Mini Catalogue. This card really stands out with its bold Rose Red Colour.

This next card is softer in Lavender Lace using the Close as a Memory and Warm Words sets. So beautiful!

For the third card, I used the Simply Said stamp set. I love how the print on the paper goes incredibly well with this stamp set.The colour combination is So Saffron printed paper with Rose Red and Lavender Lace. This is a fun card!

The final card I designed is the card that I am going to use for Father's Day for all of the "unforgettable" men in my life! Hope they are not checking out my blog. I hate to ruin a surprise! Along with the fun Unfrogettable stamp set, I used the certainly celery print paper. The print featured on this card would go very well with the Print Pattern background stamp or the Looks Like Spring stamp set.

Punched Excitement!!!

Punched Embellishments are my stress-relief right now! I have been getting so excited creating some great embellishments for cards and scrapbook projects.

This afternoon and evening I have been in Sesame Street Wonderland. From Ernie and Bert to Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster and my big wow of the day....Oscar the Grouch!

Here is a sneak peek at my original creation of Oscar the Grouch! It was so much fun creating him out of my punches.

Petal Prints card samples

All of the cards in this post feature the Petal Prints stamp set. This is by far one of my favorite stamp sets. I will definitely be sad to see it retire. These card samples were stamped by attendees at Stampin' Up! Regionals.

The first card on the left was stamped by Melissa Jung. I'm not sure how well it shows up in the picture, but she painted over the flower using Lumiere. It gives the card some shimmer and still allows the image and colour to show through where she coloured the image in.

The second card to the right was stamped by Karen Reinert. This card reminds me a chalk board. Karen used Craft Ink to stamp on the Basic Black card stock. She also paired up the Petal Prints set with the Simply Said set and the retiring Hostess set Riveting. The silver cord adds a bit of a sparkle to her card.

Credit for the third card goes to Petty Wong. She also used the French Script background stamp that is also retiring. The word "wonderful" is from the Warm Words stamp set. I just love how the Cool Caribbean and Tempting Turquoise colours go together. Don't forget that the In Colours '07 are also retiring. If you have the ink pads, don't forget to get the ink refill. The images on this card were stamped a few times without reinking. I like how soft the colours are and the watercolour-look that was achieved.

The fourth card was stamped by Carrie Sloan. The "a happy hello" is from the All Year Cheer I stamp set which is also retiring. There are only three colours to this card: ballet blue, mellow moss, and whisper white. The gingham and organdy ribbons dress this card up.

The final card stamped by Tasha Faulkner contains many different details. The French Script background was stamped on glossy cardstock. But first, Tasha sanded the glossy cardstock with a sanding block and sponged it with Mellow Moss ink. The flower was stamped with basic black ink on whisper white card stock. The edges of this piece were rubbed directly on the ink pad to give it a distressed look. The flower imaged piece was also raised off of the page using stampin' dimensionals. I don't usually use the 7/8 inch wide organdy ribbon but I like how it grounds this card.

I hope that you are able to find some inspiration in these cards.

More Regional Swaps

Here are 3 swap cards from Regionals. They were all stamped using the Natural Beauty Stamp set.

The first card on the left was stamped by a lady named Judy. She didn't put her last name on the back of the card. She stamped the background cardstock with the Paisley background stamp. The colours of cardstock are Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery and Whisper White. Blender pens were used to colour in the flowers. Notice how the edges of the Certainly Celery cardstock were distressed using the distressing tool from the Cutter Kit.

The card on the right was stamped by Carmen Carnegie. Along with the Natural Beauty set, Carmen also used the Wonderful Words set. The colours of cardstock are Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue and Marigold Morning. Note that there was no Neutral cardstock used on this card. Instead, Carmen used a reverse method to colour the image. The image appears as though it is glowing. To achieve this, bleach was put in an Aqua Painter and used to "colour in" the image. The image was stamped with Black StazOn so it would run.

The last card was stamped by Holly Eastabrook. The card stock colours are Not Quite Navy, Yo Yo Yellow and Whister White. I believe she used a Salted Background Technique to achieve the background efffect. She then sponged different colours randomly oever the cardstock. Using Bordering Blue ink, she stamped the words stamp. On top of that, she stamped the image in Basic Black and coloured the image in with Stampin' Write Markers. Note how she put the ribbon embellishment on. A smaller piece of ribbon was folded over the horizontal ribbon and adhered using the Silver Brad.

A Little BLING BLING!

I am so lucky to have an incredible upline! Not only do I benefit from my upline but my downline also does!

My upline, Bev, earned a free cruise that she went on last month. The cruise was to the Panama! How exciting!

While on cruise, she had a sneak peek at what was on it's way into the new catalogue coming out July 1st, 2007. As I mentioned in a past post, there was going to be some BLING, BLING! Here are the pictures of the Rhinestone Brads. I'm sure the pictures don't do them as nearly enough justice as they will in person. I can't wait until I have the opportunity to order them.

My Regional Swap Cards

I thought that I would share with you the 4 swap cards that I made for Regionals. I know that I have already shown one, but I thought that I would put them all together. Note that on each one of my swap cards, that there is at least one stamp set that will be retiring and never available again after June 30, 2007(tears...).

Within my collection of stamp sets, I have 30 sets and 2 wheels that will be retiring. I guess that will leave plenty of room for new sets! I already have one new set from the new catalogue that I received for free for attending Regionals. If that set is any indication of the new sets....we are out for a great catalogue! I can hardly wait!

I will post a few of the swap cards I received at Regionals over the next few days. Be sure to check back!

Retiring List & May's Promo

OK, so I am up way too early...but the list of stamp sets and wheels that are being retired has been posted.

As Bev said in her blog..."before you look, make sure to sit down - it's a long list this year!" Click here to see the list.

Just remember that we say good-bye to these sets and wheels in order to make room for great new ones! These will all be available until June 30th so be sure to contact me to place your order before they are gone forever!

There are some of my favourites on this list that I will miss - Petal Prints, Fishy Friends, In the Wild, Winged Things, Cute as a Bug, Frolicking Frogs and all of the All-Year Cheer sets. Out with the old means in with the new! I look forward to seeing what they bring us to replace the retiring sets.

We also have a wonderful new special for May so be sure to check it out here. These new Designer Series Papers are beautiful - I had a chance to see them at the pre-Regionals event this past friday. I will definitely be placing my own order!

I guess that it IS way too early, and I was up way too late....so I should try to go back to bed! The past few weeks my own life has been a bit daunting. Thank heavens I have Stampin' Up! in my life. I truly look forward to my "Stampin' Up! life" especially over the next few months.

Sneak Peek

Tonight was a late night for me. It is once again the time of year in Stampin' Up! where they reveal the Retired Stamp Sets and accessories. Usually it is posted on our demonstrator site by 11pm. Unfortunately, it is now 11:30pm and there is no list available. I promise to check for it first thing tomorrow morning!

However, I do have a sneak peek for you of the new In Colours that will be in the new Catalogue starting July 1, 2007! Thanks to Bev who took these pictures while on the Panama Cruise that she earned as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!
I can't wait to order these. They all look wonderful! I also heard that there will be some "bling, bling" in the accessories as well as a wider grosgrain ribbon. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Here are the colour names: Blue Bayou, River Rock, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, and Purely Pomegranate.

Regional Highlights!

Hello Stampin', Scrappin' and Paper-craftin' friends!

This past weekend was absolutely incredible. It was amazing being in a room with hundreds of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from the western provinces of Canada and some from the United States! The energy in the room was uplifting. This is part of what Stampin' Up! Regionals is all about.

The minute we left the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel, you could just feel the energy. When we arrived at the Canada Place, the energy was all around us. We went inside, put our bags on the ground in the line-up, and it was instantly then when we began to swap! Here is a picture of me swapping with other demonstrators.

The excitement continued all day long. One main highlight of my day was meeting Shelli Gardner, the CEO and co-founder of Stampin' Up!. Her presence is amazing. You feel inspired just listening to her talk. Here is a picture of Shelli while welcoming everyone at the beginning of Regionals. We also had a picture taken with Shelli with our demonstrator group Canadian INKspirations. This is our teams name.

Another highlight from Regionals was being asked to go on stage and partake in a friendly Stampin' Up! version game of Family Feud. Bev, Sonia, Maggie and myself made up our "INKspirations" family team... The questions were all related to being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and we had a blast! We were tied going into the third and final round and unfortunately the other team managed to steal the 140 points we had managed to get up on the board... oh well, we each left with a free stamp set and some extra memories! Here's a picture of us up on stage. I am just about to ring in for my question.

I learned many things at Regionals and I will be thrilled to share them with you all! I took 199 swap cards and managed to swap just about every one of them. There should be a card or two on my display boards that each of you will be inspired by.

The Makings of a Card

Hello Stampers and Scrapbookers!

As most of you are aware, Stampin' Up! Regionals is drawing near. I will be heading to Vancouver next Friday the 27th. I will be attending a 'by invitation only' Demonstrator's function on Friday evening. All day Saturday is the Stampin' Up! Regionals training seminar. I am very excited to be able to attend. I look forward to bringing back many new and exciting ideas for all of my customers.

In preparation for these two events, I have been working on 200 Regional swap cards, another 15 swap cards for the Friday evening, 10 Scrap-A-Card swaps, as well as a Make 'n Take project for the attendees at the Friday evening event! I have a lot of work cut out for me over the next week!

As I was preparing original cards for these events, I sat back looking at the makings of some of the cards. I thought that I would share with you how my cards start out. First, I start with an idea of which stamps I will use. This gives me an idea of the proportion I will need to keep in mind for the main image piece of card stock. From there, I start sketching! Yes, I actually sketch my cards out. Here are pictures of the sketches I did of two of my cards. They are very rough drawings. I am no artist when it comes to sketching! After the sketching is complete, I take my stamp set out. From there, I go to my card stock bin and also bring out the Colour Coach. The colour coach really makes choosing colours a lot easier. The guess work is already done!

I know that this post is not very colourful, but I thought that you might be interested how I design a card. I think that you will agree that designing a project is the tough part. Making the initial project is a bit easier once the idea is in place. Making multiples of a project takes time, but it is far less tedious! These sketches were completed while I was at my step-son's karate lessons. I guess you can say that I take stamping everywhere I go! I guess it was a great place for inspirtion! It must have been the focus, concentration, and dedication of the karate students seeping out to me!

These cards are still at the sketch phase. However, I have the card stock colours picked out! I do still need to make them! I will post pictures of them once they are completed! As I said, I have my work cut out for me over the next week!

Scrapbooking Easter!

Hello Scrappin' and Stampin' Friends!

A few weeks ago I held a scrapbooking class. We completed a 2-page 12X12 layout. The layout's theme was around Easter or Spring. You could change the theme to suit your needs. Although I keep my class projects primarily to my Studio only, I thought that I would share this scrapbook layout with everyone. This will probably be one of the only "class scrapbook layouts" that I will post on this site. I want to show all of my customers the outcome of the projects that I offer in my classes.

The colours used for these scrapbook pages were Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, and Pretty in Pink(card stock and classic ink). There were two stamp sets used for this layout: Headline Alphabet(page 192 in the 2006-2007 IB&C) and the Polka Dots & Petals stamp set (Page 10 in the Spring Mini Catalogue).

The left "HAPPY" page of this layout features a cute little bunny! This cute little bunny was created by using an array of Stampin' Up! punches(pages 220-221), uni-ball Signo white gel pen(page 224) and Stampin' Write Markers! The punches used were: Small Oval, 1 1/4 , 1/2, 1/4 inch circles, and the hand-held 1/8 inch circle punch. A little touch of classic ink using a sponge dauber(page 222) finishes the bunny. The whisper white card stock piece is for journalling.

The right "EASTER" page of this layout features the basket full of Easter eggs. Again, using punches created this fun little embellishment! The punches used to create the basket were: Small and Large Ovals, the new Round Tab punch (page 17 in the Sprind Mini Catalogue), and the1/4 inch circle punch to make all of the little Easter eggs. You'd be amazed at just how quickly these little projects go together. Using the right adhesives makes creating theses cuties even easier!...Sticky Strip and Liquid Glue (both found on page 226).

One Sheet Wonders!

Hello Stampin' and Scrappin' Friends:

My blogger connection has been down for some time. My apologies for not posting. I had to start up my computer in safe mode in order to even be able to log on.

I am really excited about my One Sheet Wonder class this evening. When prepping for all of the cards I layed them out over the table to make it easier to organize them for all of my customers. I just had to share with you a picture of all of the cutout cards once I was prepped for tonight's class.

I look forward to seeing everyone who has registered for tonight's class. Everyone will go home with their 10 WONDERful cards, a scanned colour photocopy of all of the cards, as well as a template sheet so they may go home and make more One Sheet Wonders whenever they want! This is a great class to make 10 cards.

Hopefully I will be able to get a computer tech to check out my computer soon. Then I will be able to post more often!

Regional Swap Card

Hello Stampers and Scrapbookers!

I have been busy planning for the upcoming Regionals Training seminar for Stampin' Up! demonstrators. As I mentioned in my previous post, my goal is to prepare 200 swap cards to take to Regionals. Regionals is a wonderful opportunity for demonstrators. There are hundreds of demonstrators who attend(400 or so?). It is a sold out event! There will be informative business and creative stamping presentations, tons of stamped displays, the honour of meeting Shelli Gardner who is the co-founder and CEO of Stampin' UP!, and of course swapping! These are only a few highlights of Regionals.

Here is a picture of my first swap card. I am going to take 4 different swap cards with me. I will make 50 of each. Assembly line, here I come!
The main piece of card stock is Naturals Ivory. I layered two colours of card stock on top of the main piece: Regal Rose and Rose Red. Each of these two pieces were stamped in their coordinating inks using the Fine Lace background stamp. The image from the Petal Prints stamp set is stamped three times using Rose Red ink for the flower and Always Artichoke ink right after one another without re-inking. This creates a lighter image each time. The other two flower images are stamped using the same technique but I used So Saffron and Always Artichoke ink. I sponged Always Artichoke ink around the edges of the Very Vanilla card stock and mounted this piece on a piece of Always Artichoke card stock. The ribbon I used was Olive Narrow Organdy. The 'Thinking of You' stamp is from the Friend to Friend Stamp set.

I have all of the card stock cut out to make 50 of this card. I will be busy stamping, that's for sure! Once I have completed all 50 cards, I will start my next swap card.

Doodle This

Hello Stampin' Friends!

Time passes by too quickly when you are having fun! That is what I have been doing! I have been having a lot of fun stamping with the new Doddle This stamp set in the Spring Mini Catalogue. The first card is a card that I designed for our demonstrator's swap this month. I really like the swirly design. I used it as a background on this card. I stamped the flower stamp with certainly celery ink once on very vanilla card stock and another time on Barely Banana card stock. They are each cut out and the top flower is mounted onto the other flower with a stampin' dimensional. Using a blender pen, I added a little bit of colour(Summer Sun ink from the ink pad). I stamped the word Spring from the Everyday Flexible Phrases stamp set. I little piece of celery ribbon finished this card. This card is available to stamp at tonight's stamp-a-stack. I look forward to seeing everyone tonight who registered for this class!

The second card that I made also features the same stamp set Doddle This. The swirly stamp was used as the flower stem this time. I am also really loving the new Round Tab Punch that is available in the Spring Mini. I used it on this card and stamped Happy Spring and added a piece of narrow Olive organdy ribbon.

I will be posting over the next few days! Yes, I actually will! The Stampin' Up! Regional Training seminar is coming up in April. I have completed my first swap card. I am aiming at 200 swap cards to take to Regionals! Can't wait to swap! Just imagine receiving 200 different cards in one day!

Make 'n Take Projects

Good Morning Stampin' & Scrappin' Friends!

Here are some pictures showing how some of the attendees who attended the Tigh-Na-Mara retreat incorporated the make 'n take project into their scrapbook pages and other projects.

The first picture on the left shows the make 'n take projects that I taught at the retreat. They were a little feature to put on a scrapbook page. The little tab pulled out of the project and could feature a picture or journalling. I also incorporated the use of a few punches in this project: the Word Window punch, Ticket Corner punch and the small corner rounder. The piece of card stock punched out by the Word Window punch became the tab at the top and was held together with a silver brad. The attendees could also make this project suit their needs by choosing from 112 different words from the Amazing to Zany or Everyday Flexible Phrases sets.

Here are a few of the pictures of the some of the attendee's projects.

This first project is a scrapbook page, I do believe completed by Lori H.. She featured the make 'n take project on a baby page. Isn't the babe adorable!

The second scrapbook page was created by Gayle M. She added a couple more embellishements to her make 'n take project and mounted the tag off to the side. Looks like it was a great day at a Florida beach Gayle! What incredible blue colours!

The third project was a card Lesley B. created using the make 'n take project. This was a special card Lesley made with her mom in mind. Lesley shows how a simple little scrapbook page feature also looks wonderful incorporated into a card. Great job Lesley! Hope your mom liked it!

Hello Stampin' and Scrappin' Friends!

Keith and I had a fabulous weekend at the Scrapping Away Scrapbooking Retreat at Tigh-Na-Mara! We met so many wonderful scrapbookers and their work was phenominal! The picture to the right shows the scrapbookers in action!

The social time was followed by an evening full of scrapbooking. Many of the women scrapbooked until the wee hours of the morning....until 2:30-2:45 am! They were back scrapbooking the next morning by 8:00am!

Here was my display at the retreat. I was pleased to offer my Ribbon Samplers to the ladies as well as a few retired stamp sets. The ladies also took advantage of the wonderful Idea Book & Catalogue! Our catalogue is jam-packed with fabulous ideas and projects!

Here is a picture of me holding one of the make 'n takes I taught during the retreat. I offered it in a few different colours. The picture on the right shows the ladies during one of my classes. It was great to see the ladies use my make 'n take in their scrapbook pages and other projects.

In addition to the door prizes I donated to the retreat, I also offered a grand door prize valued at $120 at my display table. The picture to the left shows Camie H. who was the winner of my grand door prize. CONGRATULATIONS Camie!

The picture to the right is of Keith. He assisted me at the retreat and was a great help! He was definitely recognized as the only male at the retreat! Thanks for all your help Keith...even though you didn't want you picture taken!

Retreat time!

Good Morning Stampin' & Scrappin' Friends!

It is retreat time for Keith and I. No, I don't mean rest and relaxation! It is time for us to head upisland to the Tigh-Na-Mara Spa & Resort! Awhile back I posted that I would be demonstrating there at a scrapbooking retreat. The time has finally arrived. Check out this website for more information on the retreat www.scrappingaway.com

I am very excited and can't wait to meet the 50 attendees! It will be wonderful to share with them the project I have prepared. I am also looking forward to the inspiration I will get from them. Can you imagine a room filled with 50 Scrappin' enthusiasts! WOW~

Keith will be assisting me during the retreat. He even has his own Stampin' Up! apron to wear! I'll have to post some pictures when we return.

Check back at the end of the weekend. I will post some highlights from the retreat. I will first have to get permission from the ladies of course!

A Thank You package!

Good Morning!

Today I am heading up island for the day. I will be attending a women's retreat. Wow, a day away without kids. Almost seems untrue.

Well, I thought that I would leave you with a great little "thank you" package. This is a special "chocolate" box that I made recently. It holds a full package of Hershey's Kisses. I used Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cardstock. Behind the main image is a piece of paisley patterned paper from the Rebecca Designer Series 12x12 paper. The images stamped on this box are from the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set. The words "thank you" are from the hostess stamp set Warmest Regards.

Here is a card that goes wonderfully with the chocolate box. It uses the same paper with the addition of Pretty in Pink cardstock. I also "roughed" up the edges on the paper surrounding the main image using the distressing tool in the Cutter Kit. The main image is also adhered to the page using Stampin' Dimensionals to raise it off the page. I have many people in my life to thank! I'm sorry if you all do not receive this wonderful little thank you package. I sure would be making a lot of them!

A RONA evening!

Good Morning Stamping and Scrapbooking friends!

This is a very exciting post for me! Last night I attended a Ladies Night at our newest local RONA Home and Garden store. It was a wonderful evening. They had 8 great "How to" stations set up. The ladies divided into groups and we rotated through the stations! I think the Flooring Instalation station was of the favorite...at least with the group I was in! But they were all wonderful! The staff at RONA and all of the area specialist at the stations were extremely freindly and knowlegable. Those are the most important aspects I look for.

At the end of the evening, there were a number of door prizes. The prizes were amazing; from specialty paint to $50-$75 gift certificates! There was, however, one final door prize which was the grand prize draw. There was one catch with the door prizes...you had to have stayed around at the end of the evening in order to win! They drew for the grand prize....announced the lady's name over the announcement system. As it was not mine, I started my way out. But.... she was not there. Just as I was about to leave they drew another name! You might have guessed it by now....it was MINE! My heart was beating like crazy as I couldn't believe my luck. I guess I should thank the lady who didn't stick around. But, a BIG thank you is in order to RONA!!!! My grand prize was a $100.00 gift card.

I arrived home and showed hubbie all of the great stuff(there was also a "goodie bag" everyone received at the beginning of the evening...a pair of work gloves, a RONA key chain, and my very own(YES, MINE Keith!) RONA measuring tape, a pen and notebook. Of course I had to drag out the fact that I indeed had won the grand prize. Keith was very pleased with me though! He really is envisioning a workshop/shed in the near future! Watch out RONA staff...here we come!

Well, there is more to let you know about. As Keith and I have been at RONA many times over the last few weeks, I thought that I would share what we have been working on. As I have mentioned in a post a while back, we had poured the step into the Stamping Studio. But as the weather was very odd to say the least, we were forced to wait to build the brick path leading into the studio. The weather had been much better lately, so Keith(and I ...but more Keith)have been busy working on the walkway. We used the bricks that we had removed from the front of the house from the beginning of our renos to frame the walkway. The rest of the bricks were from RONA! We used 24x24 inch blocks as well as charcoal coloured bricks to fill in the rest. Keith went out to RONA this morning to rent the stone/tile cutting tool. He is outside having fun right now as I am typing. He will be going full tilt ahead today until it is done. I can't wait to see the end result. Here are two pictures of what it looks like so far. One of the walkway and one with Keith working on the walkway(don't tell him his picture is on my website!). I will post another picture when the walkway is complete!

Petals & Paisley Card Swap

Good Morning Friends!

As I had mentioned in my previous post, I participated in a card swap last night. All of the demonstrators used the Petals & Paisley stamp set. This stamp set will be available in the upcoming Spring Mini . The Spring Mini will run from March 1st through to June 30th.

The first two cards that I will post featured the paisley print stamp from the set. Each demonstrator coloured in the paisley design as well used the "find joy in the little things" saying on the card. Both of these layouts are great. Take a look at the stamp sets you have and incorporate them into these layouts. These layouts are very versatile . Where they have stamped the saying, take one of your stamp sets and put an image there.

The card on the left was created by Alicia. She stamped all over the main piece of cardstock using the background stamp in the set. She then stamped the Paisley stamp on two pieces of whisper white cardstock, coloured the image with a Stampin' Write Marker(Pixie Pink), then the pieces were mounted on Basic Black cardstock. The vertical piece was embellished using black and white gingham ribbon. Note how Alicia alternated the ribbon colours. Finally, the saying was accomplished by actually colouring right on the stamp using the Stampin' Write Markers to achieve the two colours on the one stamp. Once you "colour" the stamp, you "huff - or breathe" on the stamp to moisten it again, then stamp onto the cardstock. The saying was double mounted which helps it stand out a bit more than the paisley image. Great card Alicia!

The second card to the right was created by Bev. She stamped the paisley design onto whisper white cardstock which was then mounted onto chocolate chip cardstock. Bev coloured the paisley with the Stampin' Write Markers but used two colours: Pretty in Pink and Mellow Moss. Bev also used Chocolate gingham ribbon to embellish her piece of paisley stamped cardstock. Bev also stamped the saying on whisper white cardstock and double mounted it on Mellow Moss and Chocolate Chip cardstock. In addition to the saying, Bev also used the flower image. The same technique was used to achieve the two colours on this stamp by using the Stampin' Write Markers. A final embellishment of three little brads from the Soft Subtles brad pack really finish this card off! Amazing card Bev!

HAPPY swap cards!

Good Morning!

I am in a card swap this evening so I thought that I would share with you my creations. I took the card that I designed for our demonstrator's group colour challenge and "stamped" with it! I just changed the colour scheme and voila!...a new card. I wanted this card to be more "realistic" in a sense.

Stampin' Up! has a March art contest for demonstrators. I decided that I would make two of these little "HAPPY GIRLS" to submit for the contest. This is the first time that I have considered entering a Stampin' Up! contest . I must admit that I love these cards. I have also received such great feedback on them. Thanks for all of your wonderful words, it really inspires me and challenges me to push my creativity even further.

Here are individual pictures of the two cards that I am submitting for a better view. The only difference with these cards is the use of the Canvas background stamp. I used this stamp on the card to the left. I still prefer the card without the use of the background stamp. But, as each person has their own opinion, I am submitting both. Who ever judges the cards may have the opinion that the card that uses the background stamp might be a more complete card as there is less cardstock left unstamped. What do you think? I would love to hear your opinion.

Scrappin' Card Samples!

Hello Stampers and Scrapbookers:

Here are 10 cards that my upline Bev made using the Simply Scrappin' Kit Just Delightful. This kit as well as 5 exclusive stamp sets are only available until the end of this month during the Sell-A-Bration promotion! The Just Delightful Simply Scrappin' Kit is quite impressive! It would make some wonderful scrapbook pages. Bev created 4 of these cards in her first hour! She was able to complete all 10 cards last evening. And as she does, I love every one of them! There are no stamps used on any of these cards - just card stock and the Just Delightful Simply Scrapin' Kit. Bev informed me that even after making these 10 cards, she still has much of the kit left... She only cut into one of the patterned pieces of card stock. She still has lots of the self-adhesive die cuts left although she did use up all of the flowers. Some of the other pieces that are left over are more suited for scrapbooking so they can be used for scrapbooking purposes.

Bev just picked out some different colours of card stock that coordinated with the striped card stock for the main cards - Bashful Blue, Cameo Coral, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Barely Banana and So Saffron. Then she played with some different layouts, added some brads and ribbon on a couple of cards... it was quick and easy!

Remember that this Just Delightful Simply Scrappin' Kit will only be available during Sell-A-Bration which ends on February 28th! Don't miss out!

I hope that you all had a wonderful day full of love and laughter! I thought that I would just post quickly to show you one of the cards that I made for Valentine's. It was the card that I designed for my silk scarf class. I simply changed the salutation....and voila! It is now a Valentine's card. This would also make a great card for an anniversary or wedding. The Petal Prints set is such a wonderful set. As I have also mentioned before, it is one of my favorites.

A Birthday Gift

Hello Stampers and Scrapbookers!

This past week was very busy for me with Sell-A-Bration in-home workshops. The pace has just settled down over the weekend and I was able to spend a great deal of time with family and friends.
On Saturday evening I was invited out for dinner to celebrate my friend Trina's birthday. Since Trina had requested many of my cards over the past few months to give to others, I only thought that it would be fitting to give her a collection of cards for her birthday. I made her eight coordinating cards and packaged them in a paper-crafted handbag. I made the handbag to also coordinate with the cards. Since it was her birthday, each of the cards were birthday cards. We all have a need for birthday cards so it seemed fitting! You can see another sample of a paper handbag and card set in my posting from my Sell-A-Bration open-house. The handbag featured here was decorated using the Simply Scrappin' Just Delightful scrappin' kit (choose this kit or one of 5 exclusive stamp sets for free only until the end of this month with a $75.00 purchase). I chose to keep the decorations on the bag simple. The card layouts were all different. I kept them simple as well. In fact, I always have so many scrap pieces of paper in my scrap bin that I wonder if they will ever be used. For these cards, I made a point of choosing the colour scheme to match the colours in the scrapbook paper. I then went to my scrap paper bin, pulled out the folders holding each colour, and started to piece papers together. I literally made up the layouts depending on the pieces that were already cut up. If you have many scrap pieces of paper leftover from previous projects, pick a colour scheme and start to piece papers together. You will be amazed with what you can come up with!

Polka Dots and Paisley

Good Evening Stampers!

Sorry that I have delayed in posting. I have been busy designing cards and planning a few upcoming in-home workshops. February is the last month of Sell-A-Bration. Here is another card that I made for the colour challenge. I used the Polka Dots and Paisley stamp set and all of the colours in the colour challenge. Also used on this card is an embellishment from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit. Attached to the Hodgepodge Hardware is white grosgrain ribbon and white narrow organdy ribbon. Note that I made the white grosgrain ribbon unique to this card. I used Rose Red Craft Ink on the background stamp in the Polka Dots and Paisley stamp set and stamped it directly onto the ribbon. Make sure that you leave plenty of time after stamping the ribbon for the ink to dry before handling. You can speed up the drying process by setting the ink with Stampin' Up's! Heat Tool. By using this technique, not only will the colour of your ribbon match your project, but now you can coordinate the design on your ribbon to match the stamp set that you use on your project! Sometimes it's all in the coordination! That is where Stampin' Up's! line of products make it easy for you to coorinate your project. Now you can take the coordination one step further! Give it a try! I'm sure you will be pleased with the outcome.

Seeing Outside the Box!

Hello Stampers!

I have been having a bit of difficulty accessing my blogger account over the past few days. Sorry about the lapse in postings!

I am going to share with you two of my creations today! They are again creations that I have designed for the colour challenge. I am pleased to say that the cards/scrapbook layouts that I have featured lately are all of my original designs. As a demonstrator I have access to thousands of layouts that are so incredible that I can't resist to use them every now and then. But I want to assure everyone that I will always challenge my own talents and share with you my own creations as well!

I made the card to the left with the scrapbook layout that I featured in my previous posting in mind. Scrapbook pages make wonderful gifts for family members. This would make a great card to send along with the scrapbook page. Although this is a simplistic card it serves the purpose to match the scrapbook page. Again, I was focusing on the use of Stampin' Ups! punches to add embellishments to a page. This idea works just as well when used on cards. I added just a touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the butterfly for added interest.

This second card took stamping and punching to a new level. As a Christmas gift to all Stampin' Up! demonstrators, we received the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set for free from Shelli (the cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up!) . The Polka Dots & Paisley set will be available to purchase from the Spring Mini Catalogue from March 1 - June 30th, 2007. When I first saw the stamp set, all that I could see was a face. This is the card that I came up with. This is my own creation and an original. I stamped the stem of the flower for the mouth, the flower of the stamp became the eyes and the circle outline of the flower was used to create the nose. I carefully inked the "dot" of the flower stamp using the edge of the Marigold Morning ink pad. I then used the Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker to colour the petals. That is how I achieved the two colours on the one stamp. The cheeks are just sponged on using Rose Red ink and a Stampin' Sponge. I used the Daisy punch to create the hair and I also sponged some Marigold Morning ink on each flower for added dimension. I adhered each flower to the paper using Sticky Strip to ensure a good bond.....wouldn't want her hair to fall out! The little buckle at her neck line is from the Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware kit that I had won for our last group challenge! I am putting my winnings to good use. The ribbons used are white grosgrain and white narrow organdy. All that I see now everytime that I look at this card is Raggedy Ann. I suppose I will be making another creation with this same card in mind.

More for the Colour Challenge

Good evening Stampers!

I continue to work on projects for the colour challenge our demonstrator's group is having. I have started to think "outside the box" a bit! Tonight I am going to post my latest scrapbook page. I have completed this page keeping a focus on Stampin' Ups! punches. The butterflies were all made using the following punches: Large Oval, Small Oval, 1/2 inch round punch, horizontal slot, word window punch, as well as the Daisy punch. I also used the Ticket Corner punch in the title paper. It really adds a nice finished touch to the title. The grass on the bottom of the page was created by taking a strip of paper and using the paper snips to make short little cuts. Once I had all of the grass completed I "cut the grass"...I made little angle cuts into the grass to take away from the bluntness of the grass. The lady bugs and the snail are images from the Winged Things stamp set. A few of them were adhered to the grass using Stampin' Dimensionals to give a bit of depth to the page. I also added to the focus of the butterflies by stamping one individual butterfly from the Beyond the Basics stamp set here and there. A piece from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit(Antique Brass) completes this page.

New Challenge!

Good Morning Stampin', Scrappin', and Paper Craftin' Friends!

Our demonstrator's group has another challenge underway. The new challenge is to come up with projects using a specific colour combination. The combination that we are using is Marigold Morning, Rose Red, Old Olive and Lavendar Lace. All of these colours must be used in each project. Again, for each project we do, our name will be entered the same number of times for a draw of Stampin' Goodies. The challenge goes until our March demonstrator's meeting. Not surprisingly, I like a challenge! The day after the challenge was posted, I started some projects.

The card to the left is the first card that I designed for the challenge using the Winged Things Stamp set and the Print Pattern Background stamp. I pieced the Old Olive, Marigold Morning and Rose Red card stock together and held them together with a few little pieces of tape. The three pieces now became one piece. I then inked up the Print Pattern stamp with the VersaMark Ink Pad. I carefully placed the paper as one unit on top of the background stamp and gently rub over the paper with my fingers. This is the way I use the Background stamps. I can ensure full coverage of ink on my projects. The VersaMark ink leaves a watermarked look on the paper. I used the same sized paper for the Lavendar Lace and the Very Vanilla card stock. I used the paper piercing tool to poke holes along two sides of the Lavendar Lace paper. I stamped the Dragonfly image in Basic Black Classic ink. The image is coloured using blender pens. I accomlished the Marigold Morning colour using the blender pens in the ink that I squeezed from the ink pad onto the cover of the ink pad. The other colours were achieved by gently brushing the blender pens on the Paint Brush end of the Stampin' Write Markers. If you click on the card, it will be enlarged so you can see that I sponged the different colours around the edges where they came in contact with the coloured card stock. The main piece of card stock is Naturals White.

Challenge outcome!

Hello Stampers!

Our demonstrator's meeting was absolutely phenomenal last evening! I received many incredible swap cards from the other demonstrators who participated. I even stamped 5 new cards and one 3-D project during the make-and-take session. Here is a picture of the make-and-take cards/project.

As I indicated in my previous post, there was a challenge for all demonstrators within our group to participate in. Each demonstrator's name was entered for each card/project they submitted into a draw for at least $50 worth of Stampin' Up! products. I had entered 16 projects for the SAB challenge. There were 55 entries in total. To my amazement, my name was drawn making me the lucky winner! My prize package (pictured to the left) included the Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware Kit(page 230 value $37.95), 1/4 inch square punch (page 220 value $6.95), and a package of Stampin' Dimensionals (page 226 value $5.50). I am very thrilled about my prize! I already had the opportunity to use each of these products over the past few months and I absolutley have fallen in love with the Hodgepodge Hardware kit. Each piece in the kit adds a wonderful touch to cards and scrapbook pages. I have even used the pieces on some of my 3-D projects. The quality of this kit is outstanding! I am truly lucky to be the winner of such a fabulous prize! I couldn't help but take all of the pieces out of the Hodgepodge Hardware kit. It gives a better perspective of just how many items are actually within the kit. I think you will agree that this kit is a great value and the possibilities are almost endless as are the number of projects you can use them on!

We have a really unique and friendly group of demonstrators. Not only are we a group but we are a team. Monthly Demonstrator's Meeting tonight!

Hello Stamping Friends!

I thought that I would share with you my swap card that I made for tonight's Demonstrator's meeting. Each month, we hold a card swap for all of the demonstrators to take part in. Each demonstrator designs/stamps a card and duplicates it for each of demonstrators who is taking part. There are 11 participants in this month's swap with the theme Love, Wedding, Anniversary. I can't wait to see all of the creations. It is amazing to see the differences in each of the cards and just how unique each of us are!

I have also taken part in a challenge that was introduced this month within our demonstator's group. Although we are demonstrator's we are always being challenged and it helps to keep our talents alive! There will be a draw tonight for a prize worth at least $50 in Stampin' Up! products. Since I am always up for a challenge, I took it on! We were to use stamps/products from the Sell-A-Bration catalogue and/or the Winter Mini Catalogue. For as many cards/projects that we come up with our name gets entered into the draw. So if you stamp one card, your name will be entered once. If you stamp 10 cards, you will be entered 10 times. Well, liking a challenge, I managed to come up with 16 different Sell-A-Bration cards which included 2 -12x12 Scrapbook Pages and I also managed to stamp different Winter Mini Catalogue cards which included 2-12x12 Scrapbook Pages. Many other demonstrators have made several cards and I can't wait to see who is the lucky demonstrator to win! There is never a dull moment in a demonstrator's world! Here are pictures of the 4 cards I stamped today.

I will post a few of the swap cards later this evening. If time runs short tonight, I will post them tomorrow! I hope that you find inspiration in these creations!

Card Variations and Scalloped Edge Instructions

Good Morning Stampers!

Here's a variation my upline Bev made of the Like It a Latte card I showed you on January 10th with the scalloped edge. You can check out the Like It a Latte stamp set from the Winter Mini Catalogue. Bev stamped her card in Chocolate Chip and Rose Red. This card would also make a great Valentine's card with the use of the heart on the cup! A cup of cocoa with a friend on Valentine's day...sounds good to me!

Here are more detailed instructions Bev included to make the scalloped edge.

First, CAREFULLY take the guard off the Small Corner Rounder Punch - If the guard is taken off too quickly and without enough care there is a chance that it could break.

Then, line the punch up along the edge of your card stock and continue to move it down and punch until you've made the scalloped edge. You'll want to watch to be sure you're getting the punch lined up in the right spot and are keeping it straight. This is such a great idea to add a bit more interest to your cards and scrapbook layouts. Give it a try. I would love to see your creations!

Good Morning Stamping Friends!

One of the aspects I love about being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is that I have met so many wonderful people. I absolutely love it when my customers share with me their very own creations! When Lesley B. (the winner of the Open-House door-prize) came to pick up her prize, she also brought along one of her card creations!(pictured to the left) She went home after the Open-House and created it! The Flower Image she used is a set Lesley had earned for free through the Hostess Benefit program. At the time Lesley earned this free set she also earned other free Catalogue Merchandise as well as other benefits only available through me! The Hostess set is called Springtime Stems. She stamped the soild flower image direct to Whisper White Card Stock using Classic Inks(Pink Passion, Ballet Blue, Only Orange and Tempting Tourquoise). She then stamped the outline image using the VersaMark Ink Pad and embossed with Crystal Clear Embossing Powder. Lesley created the stems by drawing dotted lines using the Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Marker. The grass on the bottom of the page was simply created using a strip of Certainly Celery Card Stock and cutting fine little slits in the top portion. She created a little tag and used petite little stamps(source unknown) and non-Stampin' Up! ribbon. Card Stock colours: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, and Certainly Celery. Open-House Highlights

Hello Stampers!

Thank you to those who came out to my Open-House in support of my Stamping business! I really appreciate your support and interest.

I would like to share with those who could not make it out a few highlights from yesterday. Pictured here on the left is the wall display of the 41 inspiration sheets. They sure did take up wall space!

The picture on the right shows my three display boards featuring cards and scrapbook pages using the Sell-A-Bration stamp sets. There were also 5 other boards on display and other project samples. The table in the middle of the room was set up so my customers could stamp a make and take card. The make and take card is pictured here as well as the details on this card:

Stamp sets: So Very, Very Punny, Fresh Fillers

Paper: Naturals White, Whisper White, Black, Pixie Pink

Ink: Pixie Pink, Pink Passion, Black

Accessories: Blender Pen, Black Gingham Ribbon

Details: The little piggy was coloured using the blender pen dipped into ink that was squished onto the lid of the ink pad. This is a great colouring technique to allow your images to have a bit of shading rather than just a solid colour.

This was the door prize at my Open-House. Included in the door prize was a hand-bag that I made entirely from card stock(mellow moss, cranberry crisp, very vanilla) and scrapbook paper(Recollections Paper), 8 coordinating cards that also featured the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set, 'Too Terrific Tags' stamp set, a black stampin' spot, and three inspiration sheets. And the winner is......Lesley B.! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Here is a close-up view of the paper hand-bag! A few strategic score lines and cuts...and volia....a paper hand-bag! The handles were attached with brads from the Hodgepodge Hardware embellishment kit-Antique Brass. The faux stitching was created by using the white gel pen. The pocket flap has a button from the 'Fresh Favorites I' package attached to it . The hand-bag holds all of the cards. Wouldn't this make a great gift to give to friends and family for any occasion?!

Open-House reminder!

Hello Friends!

This is just a reminder about my Open-House tomorrow Saturday January 13th at my Stamping Studio. Please e-mail me for directions at staceysstampingstudio@shaw.ca . Please come and go as you wish between 9:30am and 12noon. My Stamping Studio is jam-packed with tons of Stamped samples…ideas for everyone! One of my walls will be covered with sheets that will inspire you that include card and scrapbook samples. There are now 41 stamp sets featured on 41 different inspiration sheets!

I have 7 display boards up. You will definitely want to bring a camera so you can take your favorite ideas home with you! My latest accomplishment will be on display….an altered Lunch Tin. Come see how you can put your Simply Scrappin' Kits to work for you! It is a piece of art in itself.

For those in attendance tomorrow, you will have your name entered in a draw for the door prize. If you place an order tomorrow(in person or by phone) your name will be entered again for a door prize, and if you book your home workshop tomorrow(in person or by phone), you will receive an additional door prize slip! Many chances to win!!!

I do hope that you will all have a chance to drop by. Just a reminder to go to my front door. There is lots of parking in the parking lot across the street. How convenient! Just be careful as there is still some ice on the road.

From Pouring Rain to Winter Wonderland!

Good Morning Stampers!

Over the past few days we have had a lot of rainfall. However, this morning we woke up to a Winter Wonderland! I LOVE IT!

I took these pictures of our house this morning. We shovelled a path in the driveway at 7:30am and by 8:15 it was covered in just as much snow again! This morning I am going to finish one of my 12x12 scrapbook layouts. So, the snow came just in time....it gives me time!

Today is also a good day for a hot cup of hot chocolate! Here is a card that I made using the Like It a Latte stamp set in the Winter Mini Catalogue. I stamped the 'steam' several times on the whisper white card stock to create a background. I also had to break down and use a product Stampin' Up! sold last year called Liquid Applique to enhance the foam I stamped on top of the cup. It gives it the look of whipping cream. The scalloped edge was created using the small Corner Rounder punch. I just took the guard off of the punch enabling the paper to be placed further into the punch. I just kept lining up the punch beside the last punched curve and continued punching until I finished an entire edge.

Open House SAB sample card sneak peak!

Hello Stampin' Friends!

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 24 swap cards in the mail today. They arrived safely....given all the rain we have had.

Here are two of the swap cards. They were both made by two talented demonstrators in our Stampin' Up! demonstrator's team. The card on the left was designed by Bev. She used the Delight in Life stamp set. She outlined the flower petals and leaves using the Rose Red and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers followed by colouring them in with the Regal Rose and Certainly Celery. The center of the flower was coloured using the markers as well with So Saffron. Bev used the same flower image to make the leaves. She just cut them out and adhered them under the flower. Dazzling Diamonds glitter was added to the center of the flower using the 2-Way Glitter Pen. It adds a wonderful touch a glitz to her card. The two accents of Black Gingham Ribbon anchor the card. Amazing layout and layering!

The 2nd card was stamped by Lucie. She used the Happy Harmony SAB s tamp set as well as Fine Lace Background stamp, Linen Background stamp, and French Flair Background stamp. The flower was direct to stamp coloured using Stampin' Write Markers. A bit of a 'huff' on the stamp moistens the ink before it is stamped on the paper. Note the wonderful softened effect Lucie gave to this card by sponging around the different paper layers to this card including the main card stock piece. Lucie also used Moss Gingham Ribbon which really completes her card.

At present there will be 35 different card samples on display during the Open-House using the Sell-A-Bration stamp sets. There are samples using each of the 5 different SAB stamp sets. Many other card samples will be on display, so there should be something of interest to everyone! I hope you will be able to attend. More Sell-A-Bration cards!

Hello Stampers!

I had the opportunity to stamp some more today during the kid's nap time. Yeah!

Here is a card I just made using the Very Punny stamp set. I cut out each of the fish, coloured them with Stampin' Write Markers in these colours: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, and Tempting Turquoise. The fish are also mounted using Stampin' Dimensionals to add more depth to this card. The stunning part of this card is the background technique I used. The bubbly background is done using the Heated Pearls technique.

Technique Classes will be posted during my Sell-A-Bration Open House to give those who attend the first chance to sign up! Add some excitment to your cards by using simple but interesting background techniques!

Card Display Boards

Good morning Stampers, Scrapbookers and Papercrafters!

Our 'pond' has finally subsided! Thanks heavens.

I thought that I would share a final look at two of the many display boards in my studio. These two boards will be coming down this week. I do hope that you still find some inspiration from them. I will be displaying cards made with the Sell-A-Bration sets on these boards. The other boards in my studio will also be changing.
To have a close-up and personal look at the boards, please don't hesitate to drop by my Open-House this coming Saturday January 13th between 9:30am-12noon. A Morning Surprise!

Good morning everyone!

Here are some pictures of what we woke up to this morning. Overnight the heavens definitely opened up! As the drains at the street level are higher than where liquid flows to, this is what has happened to our front yard. The city is aware...and has been for 3 years now. Finally they have made some markings this past week on the street where they are going to change the location of the drains. We have put our landscaping of the front yard on hold due to obvious reasons. Poor hubby had to trek out in low boots as we do not own hip-rubbers:) and just walk right into our 'pond'! He placed a sump pump into the water and it is now draining into one of the road drains via a garden hose. Keith's boots are now draining outside our front door.

Oops! The second picture is sideways....just turn your head...sorry!

I am just about to leave for a Demonstrator's only Stamping Day! Just imagine....am entire day of stamping with no interuptions! My dream come true!

I have spent much of my last week stamping. I have been preparing for these Sell-A-Bration months with many different samples. I used the Delight in Life set in the card featured here. It is of my favorite right now. I have also designed 2 cards specifically for 2 different card swaps that I am in. I was invited in a swap with demonstrators in Vancouver. There are 24 in this swap, so I can't wait for my cards to arrive. I am expecting them by the end of next week! I am also in a smaller swap here in Victoria.

Demonstrator Card Swap

I have recently been in a card swap with the other Stampin' UP! demonstrators in our group. We had a Christmas get-together and exchanged our cards. It is always exciting to receive so many wonderful cards from other demonstrators. Everybody has their own individual style, so each of the cards are great to add to my collection!

Here is my swap card. I actually designed this card this past summer for one of my stamping customers for her son's wedding. For the swap, I just changed the salutation. The salutation is from the Sincere Salutation stamp set(page 172). The main image and leaves are from the Petal Prints stamp set(page 118). The flowers were inked carefully with elegant eggplant and always artichoke and stamped four times without re-inking. I just alternated the position of the stamp. It gives the look of a bouquet. I stamped around the flowers with an image from the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set(page 167) and also sponged the edge of the card stock to give it a softened look. The Whisper White cardstock that the leaves are stamped on was also lightly sponged all over in always artichoke ink. As with many of my cards, I like to add a touch of ribbon. On this card I used Spring Moss Grosgrain Ribbon(page 234).

I will post other cards from the other demonstrators over the next few days. Please check back!

Pinecone Ornament

Christmas Day is getting closer! I have been stamping up a storm but I have also been playing. Here is a picture of one of the ornaments I made today. These pinecone ornaments are very easy to make but a bit time consuming as there is a lot of folding. This ornament features the 12x12 Designer Series scrapbook paper called Recollections. You can find this paper on page 208 in the 2006-2007 Stampin' UP! Idea Book & Catalogue. The narrow organdy wine coloured ribbon on this ornament finishes it off with an added touch of elegance.

My husband helped me make quite a few of these ornaments in the past two days for Christmas gifts. He is a great help, although he doesn't like to admit that he helps with the crafting! Thanks for your help Keith!

'Twas the Week Before Christmas'

Here's a cute Stamper's version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. Since we have just reached the week before Christmas, I thought this was fitting for all to read!

I have also included a picture of the card I made for the group of demonstrators I get together with every month. The stamp set featured on the card is from the Hostess Set 'The World Over'. The little snowmen were coloured using blender pens to pick up the ink from the lids of the ink pads. The burgundy grosgrain and narrow organdy ribbons finished off this simple layout and are adhered using a staple.

Twas the week before Christmas,
and the house was a hush
Save the stamping of rubber
in a last-minute rush.

The card stock was cut
with precision and care
In hopes that a greeting
would soon be stamped there.

The children were tucked
in their beds around eight,
But now it's ten-thiry....
How'd it get so late?

And I in my PJs
with bleary red eyes
Had finally arranged
all the stamping supplies.

It started out simple...
it does every year
Just make a few cards
for friends who are dear.

I pressed ink to paper,
it looked crisp and clean
A sprinkle of powder,
heat to a sheen.

When what on my green
Christmas card should appear?
Why, a tiny gold Santa
with sleigh and reindeer.

On pigment! On powder!
On heat from a gun!
Now ribbon and glitter!
Can I make eighty-one?

"I can do it!" I said
with all of my might
And looked at the clock -
'twas well past midnight.

I went straight to stamping
out card after card.
"This might take all night,
but at least it's not hard".

But after I finished,
they looked a bit lame.
I didn't want fancy,
but these were too plain.

And then in a twinkling,
a thought came to mind.
"I'll just dress them up,
and then they'll be fine".

So I went to my craft room
and looked all around,
Then back to the table
with all that I'd found.

My Fiskars I brandished,
I wasn't a quitter,
And soon I was covered
in emboss powder and glitter.

The cap of my marker
I held in my teeth.
I'd lay in some colour
or maybe gold leaf.

My broad little face
was all beaded with sweat.
But I wouldn't give up -
well, at not least yet.

There was glue on the table
and ink on the floor.
I laughed at the site,
though my fingers were sore.

I did not complain,
just kept up my work.
When more things went wrong,
I did not go berserk.

When finally finished,
one card about six,
It looked pretty good
after all of my tricks.

"I'm keeping this one,
my work on it shows
"So clutching my card,
up the stairs I arose.

I crawled into bed
at the crack of dawn,
Creativity all spent,
motivation gone.

But make no mistake,
I promise one thing:
You'll all get your cards,
but not till next spring!

Silk Scarf Workshop

Since my post this morning there has been interest in my Silk Scarf Workshop. One customer stopped by to look at the scarf and registered on the spot!

This is a wonderful workshop to complete gifts for moms, sisters, grandmoms, teachers or other special people in your life! Maybe you would like to treat yourself! This is truly an entirely handmade gift! What better way to say you care!

You will stamp one silk scarf, make one coordinating box to package your scarf in and a matching card. You can change the saying on the card to go with the occasion you require the scarf for. The scarf is 100% silk.

Remember there will only be 4 spaces at each class, so register early!
